SEAT Ateca FR arrives as SEAT’s sporty take on the Ateca
The SEAT Ateca FR joins SEAT’s new Ateca range at the Barcelona Motor Show, with sporty design and the option of a new 2.0 litre 187bhp petrol engine.
It’s just over a year since the SEAT Ateca arrived as SEAT’s first SUV, with SEAT promoting it hard with four day test drives, plenty of advertising, excellent residuals and clever pricing. And it’s working, with the Ateca flying out of showrooms.Despite that, SEAT clearly has no intention of letting up on the Ateca’s momentum, so we’ve already had the off-road Ateca arrive – the SEAT Ateca X-Perience – and now we’re getting the sporty Ateca – the new SEAt Ateca FR.
The new ateca FR gets 18″ Performance alloys, body-coloured wheel arches, titivated side skirts, tweaked bumpers, rear spoiler, gloss black grille and LED fogs.
Inside get a tweak too with aluminium treadplates, Alcantara sports seats, aluminium pedals, red contrast stitching and leather steering wheel.
Engine options include the Ateca’s usual diesel and petrol options, but there’s also a new 2.0 litre TSI with 187bhp, 4Drive and seven-speed DSG gearbox.
Matthias Rabe, SEAT’s R&D VP, said:
The Ateca FR adds yet another level of excitement to our first SUV. The agile and precise handling of Ateca is reinforced with a touch of dynamism and fun at the wheel, with the FR trim adding for example Dynamic Chassis Control and progressive steering.
It’s a sportiness that adds to all the technology the Ateca has onboard.
The SEAT Ateca FR debuts at the Barcelona Motor Show (where else?) in May, by which time SEAT may have decided how much they’re going to charge in the UK.
