SEAT Leon Cupra R shows its claws ahead of a Frankfurt debut
The SEAT Cupra R has been revealed ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show with 306bhp from its 2.0 litre petrol Turbo. Just 799 being built.
Whether or not SEAt are going to hive off the Cupra label in to a sub-brand or not, there’s a new Cupra on the block adding extra oomph to the already slightly bonkers Leon Cupra 300 – the new SEAT Leon Cupra R.The Cupra R stands as SEAT’s most potent road car to date, with its extra 10bhp over the Cupra 300 giving it the edge, although it looks like you’ll only get the full fat 300bhp if you opt for the manual version, with the DSG-equipped Cupra R getting the same 296bhp as the Cupra 300.
Titivations include carbon fibre details on the spoilers, side skirts and diffuser, copper door mirrors and rims and a new design round the wheel arches and intakes.
Inside gets a touch of the carbon fibre and copper treatment too as well as an Alcantara steering wheel.
There’s also modified camber at the front, there’s Adaptive Suspension, Brembo brakes and a new exhaust, and a choice of Midnight Black, Pyrenees Grey and Matte Grey paint jobs (the Matte Grey is a cost option).
Still front-wheel drive, the Cupra R could prove to be a bit of a wayward handful, but it’ll certainly keep your pulse racing. Just 799 SEAT Leon Cupra R models are being built.
