The Smart ForStars EV Concept has been revealed ahead of a Paris 2012 debut, previewing the next generation Smart ForTwo.

Well, as this is a concept Smart can be a bit daft, so the ForStars gets a panoramic roof – so you can see the stars – and a video projector in the bonnet scoop so you can watch the (movie) stars. Those Smart wags.
Other concept bits on the ForStars include elaborate hammock-like scalloped seats and a steering wheel that’s U-shaped rather than round. There’s lots of white leather on offer and no rear view mirror; you stick your smartphone in a holder on the screen which integrates with a video camera onboard the ForStars.
Smart has made the ForStars Concept an electric Smart by using the powertrain from the Smart ForTwo Brabus, which offers an 80bhp electric motor powered by a 135kW lithium-ion battery pack which promises decent performance and a top speed of 80mph.
In terms of exterior style. the ForStars looks like its previewing the next generation Smart ForTwo with a more rounded and muscular style with a longer wheelbase and wider track which should make the next ForTwo both better looking and better to drive.
What the next ForTwo won’t get though is the Brabus electric powertrain. It will have to make do with a less powerful setup but it should, assuming the new ForTwo is lighter as expected, a bit more dynamic with better range.
The Smart ForStars Concept will be front and centre on the Smart stand at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show.
