We’re getting conflicting messages from GM and Spyker over whether the deal to sell Saab to Spyker is close to concluding.
After we received reports this morning that the deal by Spyker to buy Saab looked to be sorted, we’re now getting totally confused.
First we got an email in to say that GM were holding a press conference this afternoon (11.30am EST – 4.30pm UK) to discuss “Updates on GM business activities”. Which we took to mean that the deal for Spyker to buy Saab was going to be announced.
But now we’ve got an email in from Spyker which seems to contradict that. The Spyker email says that “…talks are ongoing, the outcome of which is still uncertain. As SAAB is currently in liquidation talks must end soon”.
So your guess is as good as ours. But I suppose we’ll learn more when GM holds their press conference.
We’ll let you know. If we’re not bored rigid by the whole saga by then.
SGT says
There are many companies in the midlands who are working on Spyker projects. If they do buy Saab is there a risk that this work will be done by Saab?
CarsUK says
We have no real inside line on this, but what we know of Spyker and CPP (the main supplier and builder of Spykers) we would be amazed if Spyker chose to use Saab to produce any part of their cars.
