With the car market polarising to high-end and budget models – with the middle well and truly squeezed – it’s a good time to bring a budget city car to the market. Step forward the new Suzuki Celerio for the UK.
Starting at just £7,999 for the basic Celerio SZ3 (and £1,00 more for the better-equipped GS4), the Celerio comes with a single engine choice, low CO2 and a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.
The Celerio GS3 comes with AirCon, alloy wheels, DAB and B lutooth, but stumping up £1k more for the GS4 adds better alloys, electric windows, fogs, body colour mirrors and chrome grill.
Engine choice for the UK is just the 3-cylinder 1.0 litre that will do 65.7mpg and emits 99g/km, but from mid-2015 those figures will improve to 78.4mpg and 84g/km thanks to a new engine with Dualjet engine technology, and a new Auto Gear Shift (AGS) gearbox will also be available which will maintain the low emissions and decent economy of the manual.
