Tesla Model 3 caught on the road in California
Just days after the Tesla Model 3 was revealed, it’s been caught on a photo shoot in California on public roads giving better perspective to Tesla’s new baby.
It’s only a week since the Tesla Model 3 was revealed – the new affordable compact premium electric car from Tesla – and it’s caused a bit of a stir.Apart from the headline price of $35k (which will probably be £35k when it arrives in the UK) and the promise of a range of well over 200 miles and 0-62mph in under six seconds, it’s the remarkable response from buyers that could well mark the tipping point for electric cars.
Just two days after the Model 3 was revealed, Tesla had already secured 250,000 orders (worth around £7 billion), and the last time Elon Musk Tweeted the numbers that had risen to more than 325k, possibly making the Model 3 reveal the most successful new car launch ever, but certainly making it the most successful electric car launch there’s ever been.
But despite the reveal this isn’t the finished Model 3, and it would seem from some of the postings on Elon Musk’s Twitter feed that the interior we’ve seen isn’t representative of the production model, and we could see the design tweaked a bit with a suggestion it could get a proper grille instead of a rather odd-looking blank bit of bodywork.
But despite tweaks to the Model 3 before it goes in to production, the arrival of a (quite brief) video of the Model 3 (below), caught on what looks like a photo shoot on California roads, is interesting because it gives perspective (there’s a Model S in front) and shows the Model 3 looks entirely convincing away from the debut stage.
Now all Tesla has to do is find a way to produce enough Model 3s to match demand.
