Tesla Model S CONVERTIBLE and SHOOTING BRAKE planned by Ares Design

Ares Design – former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar’s new bespoke car design company – is plotting convertible and Shooting Brake versions of the Tesla Model S – amongst others.

We already know that Ares Design, run by former Lotus CEO and ex-Ferrari man Dany Bahar, is planning to deliver a range of bespoke and customised cars for wealthy individuals with a lust for something ‘original’.

There’s a De Tomaso inspired Lamborghini Huracan ‘Project Panther’ in the pipeline, as well as individual takes on cars like the Corvette Stingray, Land Rover Discovery, 911 GT3 and Bentley Mulsanne.

But Ares Design also has aspirations to do more, with concept cars promising  more from Ares and including some individual – and appealing looking – takes on the Tesla Model S.

What Ares has in mind is a proper convertible version of the Tesla Model S which, if you look at the image above, looks very convincing.

Ares hasn’t imagined a Tesla Convertible as a clunky roof chop, but has re-worked the Model S as a proper two-door convertible with appealing lines and a proper proportions. You can also expect a much more upmarket interior too.

But also on the to-do list is a Tesla Shooting Brake, and unlike the few efforts to deliver a Model S Estate we’ve seen so far, this one does look properly stylish and with proper lines.

There won’t be a huge market for a Tesla Model S Convertible or Shooting Brake, but for a company like Ares Design that’s not important. Just as long as there are enough deep-pocketed buyers to make it viable.

And that seems to be an odds-on bet.
