Tesla seems yo have forgotten about its first car – the Lotus-based Tesla Roadster – as it’s moved on to bigger and better things with the impressive Tesla Model S, the upcoming Tesla Model X and the promised smaller Tesla – the Model 3.
We’re sure the news from Tesla won’t be a new Roadster, but it does seem likely it will be a series of updates for existing Roadster.
The most important update will probably be new battery packs, batteries that will extend the range of the Roadster up to 400 miles and make them compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger Network.
It’s a couple of years since Tesla ended production of the Roadster with a limited run of 15 Roadster Final Editions, but in total there are more than 2400 Roadsters on the road, so Tesla must assume a sizeable chunk of those owners will be prepared to shell out to upgrade their cars.
