The Stig – Some say he was arrested…

The Stig has been arrested - twice

The Stig has been arrested - twice

Top Gear’s Stig has been arrested twice recently. Once by the Garda in Dublin and once by a truck load of soldiers in the Mojave desert.

As you may have noticed, we have run a couple of Top Gear stories lately. Nothing new there – we often catch up with the antics of the TG boys, particularly when there is a new series being aired. But there are a lot of stories cropping up at the moment and the latest revolves around the Stig being arrested – twice.

According to reports on the Top Gear web site, the Stig was arrested in Dublin soon after the Top Gear boys were lambasted by Belfast local politicians for their ‘Profligate’ antics. What was his Stigness arrested for? No idea. Perhaps he’d fled to the other side of the Irish border to escape the same fate in Belfast for crimes relating to firing Twingos in to the sea and desecrating the Belfast memorial to Harland & Wolff’s former greatness, and been snared by a joint sting between the Garda and N. Ireland plod.

But this isn’t the first time the Stig has apparently been arrested this year. Clarkson says the Stig was arrested in the Mojave desert in the Summer by a lorry load of soldiers. His crime? According to Clarkson, they were filming the Stig walking through the Mojave desert. Nothing more. He surmises that as the Stig was walking and wasn’t fat the soldiers assumed he couldn’t be American and must therefore be a terrorist.

Surprisingly, there are no confirmed reports of the Stig taking on Count Dracula whilst Top Gear was in Romania last month. Lucky escape for Vlad. Some say he drinks blood…

All of which is just about newsworthy. But we do wonder if all these stories have anything to do with the Top Gear Live Show about to launch round the world. Or the new series of Top Gear due to start next month. Top Gear cynically seeking publicity?

Perish the thought.
