The Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster has been unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car week. Just 500 Aventador SV Roadsters will be built.
Just last weekend we revealed that the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster would be unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week and, as expected, the covers have now come off Lamborghini’s first open-top SuperVeloce.Frankly, there’s nothing about the Aventador SV Roadster that’s exactly unexpected, but that doesn’t mean it’s anything less than a stunning car.
The looks of the Roadster echo faithfully those of the Coupe with it’s ‘in yer face sills’, massive front bumper and even more massive back wing, and SV painted on the flanks. It’s many things, but it’s not subtle.
What the Roadster does have that the Coupe doesn’t is a pair of removable panels for a roof – each weighing just 6kg – that can be popped out and stowed in the boot (well, ‘frunk’) for some open air fun, as well as a power rear window which Lamborghini say is so you can “…hear invigorating tones and harmonics during spirited driving”. In truth, it’s to stop your barnet leaving your scalp.
Power comes from the same V12 engines as the Coupe, which means a very potent 740bhp on tap to get the Roadster to 62mph in just 2.9 seconds – only 0.1s behind the coupe – and on to 217mph.
If you want an Aventador SV the Roadster is now your only choice as the Coupe is all sold out, but with just 500 SV Roadsters planned you’d better be quick.
But you will need to have a few bob to spare; the US price is $530k and the Euro price €357k. That means, with the VAT, you’ll be paying around £350k for the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster in the UK when it arrives in 2016.
