Volvo has revealed that their City safe autonomous braking system works so well that insurance premiums for Volvos fitted with City Safe are falling.

Volvo’s City safe has reduced insurance premiums for Volvo owners
Volvo are on a mission to ensure that no one dies or is seriously injured in a Volvo by 2020, and that means more and more clever technology to protect Volvo drivers from the dangers of driving.
So good is City Safe that Thatcham – the people who set insurance groups for cars – has decided Volvos fitted with City Safe should be rated in a lower group.
That means a drop of between three and four groups for City Safe equipped Volvos (which means all current Volvos except the XC90) and a saving for the ‘average’ driver of around £150 a year.
Nick Connor, Volvo’s UK MD, said:
With City Safety AEB now fitted as standard across all new production Volvos except the XC90, it’s fantastic to see the technology recognised by Thatcham, ultimately allowing Volvo drivers to enjoy big cost savings on their insurance.
The continued introduction of all these lifesaving technologies links back to our Vision 2020 long term objective that by 2020 no one should be killed or injured in a new Volvo.
It’s great news for Volvo owners, and a nice extra costs saving that means Volvo owners can not only enjoy Volvo’s latest range of appealing cars, but do it for less.
