Volvo On Control App for Apple & Android Smartwatches arrives

Volvo has updated their In Control App to make it work seamlessly with the trendy new Smartwatches from Apple and Android to control car functions.

Will the world and his dog fall in love with the idea of a Smart watch that does a lot of what your Smartphone does? Apple and Google are certainly hoping so, and spending big money to make it happen. And on the back of that, Volvo has decided to deliver a new In Control App that works with the new Apple and Android wearable devices.

The new smart App’s new functionality includes connectivity for Apple Watch, iPad, Android Wear and Windows (with voice control) and includes enhanced ‘send to car’ capabilities for Nav, and a new design that fits better with Volvo’s Sensus interface on the new XC90.

Functions the new smart App can control and display include heater settings, fuel levels, service schedule, remote locking and accident notification to emergency services, and it can even find your car for you in a crowded car park.

Sofia Wessman, Volvo’s On Control manager, said:

In only a few years we have moved from a safety and security related in-car feature to a solution that allows the driver to stay connected with their car and provides many new benefits to support their everyday requirements.

The updated In Control App – which is already used by 230,000 drivers in 21 countries – will be available at the end of June.
