Polestar – Volvo’s new electric performance brand – reveals its initial launch markets for the Polestar 1 with ‘Polestar Space’ will not include the UK.
When Polestar revealed their take on the Volvo Concept Coupe – the Polestar 1– as the first car to wear the Polestar badge in October, we were impressed, but also a bit disappointed. We were impressed because the Polestar 1 looks absolutely stunning, comes with a 592bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain, 100 mile Ev range and the promise of impressive performance.
But we were disappointed that Polestar were planning to build just 500 units a year, all in LHD, and that you wouldn’t be able to buy one, but would have to subscribe to Polestar’s all-inclusive monthly payment plan (although you may be able to buy a Polestar 1 – for around £135k).
We were also a little saddened that Polestar’s grabbing of the Volvo Concept Coupe means it is highly unlikely we’ll ever see Volvo deliver a Coupe version of the S90, a car which would have been a brilliant halo model for the brand.
Now, to add to the disappointment, and perhaps partly because all the Polestar 1 cars will only be available in LHD, we learn that the UK will not be in the first launch wave for the Polestar 1.
Polestar has announced it will launch a number of ‘Polestar Space’ outlets – where potential ‘users’ can get down and dirty with the brand – in mid-2019 as it rolls out the Polestar 1, but the UK isn’t included.
Instead, Polestar’s new outlets will be in the US, China, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands, although Polestar say they will roll out further spaces in more countries in the future.
Production of the Polestar 1 will start at a new Plant in China in mid-2019.

Brilliant look, but 100 miles? For big money? Not…..

It’s a view, but it is the biggest range of any plug-in hybrid on the market!
