VW Golf Edition Models as run-out Mk7 Golfs
Volkswagen is sending off the Golf Mk7 with more generously equipped Edition versions – the VW Golf Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition.
All the noise from Volkswagen at the moment is about the new ID 3 as VW seeks to start its third life stage – after the Beetle and Golf – with a car that will change the world. Or so they hope. But that doesn’t mean the bedrock of VW for the last 45 years, the VW Golf, is forgotten, although the arrival of the new Golf Mk8 has been pushed back to give the ID 3 fresh air to breathe.
But the Golk Mk8’s arrival is drawing closer, and that can be taken as official now VW has rolled out three new models of the Mk7 Golf – the Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition – as goodbye models.
Just as you’d expect with special edition models, they come with more equipment and titivations, and although they cost £400 more than the non-Edition models VW say you’re getting nearly £2k of extra kit for your money.
All three get Climate, LED headlights and Winter Pack, with the Match Edition (from £22,135) getting a choice of 1.0 115PS TSI, a 1.5 TSI with 130 or 150 PS, a 1.5 TDI 115 PS or 2.0 150 PS with 7-speed DSG available on the more powerful models.
The Golf GT Edition and R-Line Edition have a similar range of engine options (but not the 1.0 litre), with prices for the GT Edition from £25,260 and the R-Line Edition from £27,030, There are both Hatch and Estate versions available as well as SV models.
Now on sale, the VW Golf Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition will arrive with customers next month.
