VW Passat CC gets 5 seat option

The VW Passat CC 5 Seat Option

TheVW Passat CC now gets a five seat option

Volkswagen are to offer a five seat option for the Passat CC to replace the four seats and cupholder arrangement which is the only current option.

Cue bevvy of car show lovelies; roll out the big red carpet; bring on the marching band. Volkswagen has big news to announce. The VW Passat CC is getting a five seat option. You can rest easy now you know you can get three passengers in the back of the Passat CC.

Apparently VW have had a bunch of potential customers for the Passat CC bemoaning the fact that the middle of the back seats is filled up with cupholders and other such frippery. So, as it’s VW’s aim to cater for every imaginable niche possible, you can now specify a bench seat in the back.

To be honest, the middle position on the bench seat doesn’t look the most comfortable place to be. But you do get a headrest and a three-point seatbelt, so even if you’re uncomfortable your safety is taken care of.

So what does it cost to seat five? €100. So now you know.

Would just like to confirm after speaking to my local dealer that 5 seats will now be the standard on all CCs and there will no longer be the option for the 4 seats. Orders for the 5 seater will begin from July and the cars won’t be delivered until October 2010.

    That is GREAT NEWS!!!!

Any ideas when this will happen? Also do you know when they will be offering the 2.0 bi-turbo diesel for the CC?

We’re pretty sure it will be official within the week, after which you will be able to place a UK order for the 5 seat option. No idea on the engine, and we’ll probably be pushing our luck to try and find out right now!

It has just been announced by VW that they are now offering a five seat option on the CC and a whole host of extras free with the GT spec. On this basis I have now ordered 2 CCs instead of A4s. It looks like VW have listened to the people and now I reckon they will sell a lot more CCs in the UK. Thanks for your input and I take back what I said about your original article.

I own a Passat CC 170 GT. Love it but now have to look for a five seater because baby is on it’s way making it three. Was over the moon about hearing about the 5 seat option but the pencil necks in VW UK do not want to play ball. Looks like either Audi or BMW will get my business from now on and I know of 10 other people, my friends 🙂 who will be doing the same. SHAME on you VW UK, you must be making too much money to turn away business. I will be very interested if I can buy a RHD version from Europe as I go Spain every year. Maybe we should make a petition and get VW UK to change their minds. COME ON, the new Audi A7 will be coming with the 5 seat option :(((

We’ve had discussions by email and on the phone with VW in the UK, and you can be pretty sure that the Passat CC will get the 5 seat option in the UK.

Ok, I suppose “total rubbish” was a bit harsh but it was after reading your original article that I set my heart on a VW CC. Just for your info my local dealer has spoken to VW UK and the situation has still not changed. They also told me that you could not obtain a RHD Passat in Europe either so have you any suggestions as to where I would start looking for one?

Hmm. We’re sure there is legislation which permits you to order a RHD car from an EU dealer. But we’ll check on Monday for you. We’ll also speak to VW. But we fail to see how the 5 seat option is RHD/LHD specific in any way, so we can’t see the problem. But we’ll find out.

This article is total rubbish. I have just come back from a VW dealer today as I was going to order a CC and have been told that VW UK have no intention of introducing a Five seat option in the UK despite thousands of requests from people like me. The five seat option is only available in Europe. When will Companies like VW wake up and smell the Coffee?? Ah well, it liiks like BMW will now get my business now.

Well, hardly rubbish. The option is available, and if you’re desperate then order your RHD Passat in Europe if VW UK won’t play ball. You might even find it cheaper in Europe than in the UK if you shop around.
