Win a new Jag XJ - update with Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan is encouraging us to buy tickets to win the first new XJ off the production line.

Piers Morgan is promoting the competition we reported on a few weeks ago to win the first new Jaguar XJ off the production line, the proceeds of which will go to the NSPCC.

A couple of weeks ago we reported that Jaguar are running a competition to win the very first new XJ to come of the production line. It may be true that the competition will give Jaguar a bit of publicity for the new XJ, but it’s also true that the real beneficiaries of the competition will be the NSPCC.

Tickets for the competition cost £125 a time. A lot of money for a raffle ticket. But the prize is definitely worth the punt – a new Jaguar XJ SWB 3.0 litre Diesel Portfolio worth £62k – and the odds of winning are a damn site better than a whole wallet full of lottery tickets.

So when Jaguar got in touch to say they’d roped in the ultimate ‘Marmite’ guy – Piers Morgan – to give the competition a bit more publicity we were more than happy to run an update on the story. When we reported before we told you that the proceeds of the competition would help the NSPCC raise £1 million for their ‘Child’s Voice’ appeal which is aiming to raise £50 million in total. It’s a great cause, so well worthwhile giving it a bit more publicity.

And hats off to Mr Morgan. He’s given up his time to push a very worthwhile cause. Perhaps we could try roping in him for our ‘Stars Test Cars’ feature? We couldn’t put him in a Jag to play with (Richard Madeley’s already done the Jag XK and he’s doing the new XJ in January) but I’m sure we could find something he fancies to play with for a day or three. Although it would be fun to put a true sybarite in to something very prosaic. Or ‘Green’. Or both.
