2015 Volkswagen Golf R Estate revealed in Los Angeles

It’s more than a year since the new VW Golf R arrived at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and now Volkswagen has finally worked out how to bolt a small shed on the back to create the 2015 VW Golf R Estate.
The extra 100kg the small shed confers on the R Estate does dent the performance a little, but with a 0-62mph of 5.1 seconds it’s no sluggard and comfortably the best-performing estate in its sector.
Just like the R Hatch, the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive sends up to 100 per cent of drive to the back wheels with the XDS+ electronic diff locks making sure maximum traction is gained in all situations.
Cosmetically, the Golf R Estate gets a very similar treatment to the R Hatch, with R bumpers, sporty grill, Xenons, LED running lights, bigger sills, quad tail pipes, diffuser and a choice of 18″ or 19″ wheels, whilst the interior gets leather or Alcantara with carbon dash and the same 605 litres of boot space as the non-R Golf Estates (grows to 1620 with the seats down).
There are no prices for the new Golf R Estate yet, but expect it to be around £32k. VW’s UK dealers will start taking orders in the Spring with first UK deliveries expected in Summer 2015.
