The new facelift for the Volkswagen Scirocco – the closest thing you can get to a Golf Coupe – arrived at the Geneva Motor Show in March with a bit of a cosmetic facelift and new engines as VW looks to extend the life of the Scirocco. And now we have prices and specs.
Under the bonnet, VW has fitted Euro 6 versions of the engine range – all subtly tweaked – including the 1.4-litre petrol with 125 PS, a new 2.0 litre 180PS replacing the old 1.4 160PS, a new 2.0 litre TSI with 220PS and the 2.0 litre TSI in the Scirocco R now comes with 280 PS (and extra 15 PS).
Diesel options are a single 2.0 litre with either 150 PS or 184 PS, and all engines come with a six-speed manual or the option of a six-speed DSG (apart from the 1.4 litre TSI which can’t have the DSG).
There’s a choice of four trim levels – Scirocco, GT, R-Line and R – with the entry-level model getting Touchscreen Infotainment with DAB, Bluetooth, AirCon, auto lights and wipers, 17″ Long Beach alloys and height adjustable sports seats.
The GT model adds higher spec infotainment, Climate, privacy glass, 18″ Interlagos alloys, parking sensors, fog lights, Alcantara upholstery and chequered flag dash inserts, and the R-Line models get the R-Line body kit, 19″ Talladega alloys, R-Line scuff plates, leather upholstery with heated sports seats and an R-Line steering wheel.
At the top of the tree is the Scirocco R – still with only FWD – which gets the ‘R’ body kit, chrome door mirrors, Bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights, 19″ Cadiz alloys, ‘R’ Sports seats, lower suspension, DCC and a multi-function trip computer.
The order book for the new VW Scirocco is now open with first customer cars due in VW’s UK showrooms in October.
