The 2016 Jeep Cherokee Overland debuts in the UK as a new range-topping Cherokee with bigger spec, Active Drive I or II and 2.2 litre Diesel engine.
It’s two years since the Jeep Cherokee went on sale in the UK, and although it’s the Renegade that’s driving sales for Jeep in the UK, the Cherokee manages to out-sell both the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler.
That’s been helped by the arrival of a new 2.2 litre MultiJet Diesel last year, a ‘go anywhere’ Cherokee Trailhawk to emphasise Jeeps proper off-road SUV credentials, and now this, the Jeep Cherokee Overland, to show Jeep does luxury too.
The new Cherokee Overland can only be had with the new 2.2 litre MultiJet diesel, but with 197bhp, official economy of 50mpg and 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds, it’s probably the right engine choice for the Cherokee anyway, and it comes mated to the 9-Speed Auto gearbox.
Cosmetic titivations for the Overland include a polished grille, body colour for the butch cladding and bumpers, 18″ shiny alloys, HiD bi-xenon headlights, some ‘Overland’ badges and a choice of Deep Cherry Red, Bright White, Brilliant Black and Billet Silver paint jobs.
The Overland’s interior comes with Nappa leather (in Black or Pearl) for the heated and ventilated seats, a new steering wheel with a splash of wood, titivated dials, Berber mats, Alpine Premium Sound, Panoramic roof, power tailgate and ParkSense.
The Jeep Cherokee Overland costs from £38,745 for the Cherokee Overland Active Drive I and £39,950 for the Active Drive II (with more hard-core 4WD).
