We have undisguised video of Ford’s super Focus RS – the Focus RS500 – on the day Ford had originally planned to release the first details.
It started with a kiss tease. The Focus RS500. Just like every other new car reveal these days, we got the tease on the Focus RS500 a week ago. This time a video tease – not new, but better than daft or arty pictures. I suppose. Then things went a bit pear-shaped for Ford’s carefully laid plans to unveil the RS500 today. The bulk of the detail and photos leaked out, so they gave us the first official details of the Focus RS500 a couple of days early.
But today is the day Ford originally planned on releasing the detail of the RS500. And whoever first leaked the photos of the RS500 didn’t manage to leak the video. So that’s what we get today, a proper video – even if it is only a little over a minute long – but with a great soundtrack.
Our previous stories on the RS500 give you all the specs – and all the details you could want are in the Focus RS500 press release – but from a UK perspective it’s good to know that we get the lion’s share of the 500 car RS500 run – 101 cars. Mainly because we’re the biggest hot-hatch buyers on the planet. And – contrary to some reports we’ve seen – the UK cars will be RHD.
