'Groundbreaking' Ford B-Max at Geneva

Ford will reveal the Ford B-Max at the Geneva motor show together with a raft of electric cars, a cleaner Mondeo ECOnetic and the Fiesta WRC.

To be entirely fair to Ford, they haven’t said that there will be a ‘Groundbreaking Ford B-Max’ at Geneva. What they have said is that there will be a “groundbreaking all-new vehicle” and that it will be revealed at Ford’s news conference on 1st March at Geneva.

But unless we’ve had our blinkers on lately then this is the Ford B-Max, replacement for the Ford Fusion which should have been here a long time ago. But Ford ran out of money in the midst of the car-maker-meltdown and canned plans to start production in Romania more than a year ago on the B-Max.

We reported back in December that the Ford B-Max will debut at Geneva. So either Ford hasn’t been reading what we say (we don’t have as much contact since Ford decided it was too poor to send us cars for road tests any more) or they hope nobody else has. Because if the B-Max is their surprise, it won’t be much of one.

Also in Ford’s plans for Geneva is the Vertrek Concept (which will morph in to the 2012 Kuga), the Ranger Wildtrak pick-up and, as is the way these days, a pile of ‘Electric Fords (the Focus Electric, C-MAX HEV, plugin C-MAX Energi and Transit Connect Electric). Also putting in an appearance are a new and cleaner Mondeo ECOnetic and the Fiesta RS WRC. Oh, and the Metal KA – part of Ford’s Individual programme.

So, lots of electrickery, an Eco-Mondeo, a new KA model and a Fiesta you can’t buy. Plus a ‘surprise’ car that should have been here a year ago – the Ford B-Max.
