Everyone loves a sporty Fiesta – still a cracking little car in any guise – but it looks like Ford has spotted a gap in the market between the Zetec S with the 1.0 litre EcoBoost and the Fiesta ST. So we get the Ford Fiesta Zetec S Red and Black Editions to fill the gap we didn’t actually know was there.
Despite the additional power, the Red and Black Fiestas have the same official economy numbers of 62.8 mpg and 104g/km as the less powerful EcoBoost 125.
Ford has also tweaked the suspension to make it stiffer – and 10mm lower – giving it a bit more of a sporty feel than the Zetec S but not as much as the Fiesta ST.
Cosmetic titivations include black highlights for the roof, mirrors and grill on the black edition and black highlights for the same on the Red Edition, and a body kit with front and rear sports bumpers, side skirts and rear roof spoiler plus contrast red stitching for the interior on both models.
It looks like Ford are planning to see just how many Red and Black Editions they can shift as there seems to be no limit on the production run, and if you want one they are now on sale at Ford’s UK dealers starting from £15,995.

Are these to be three-door models only? Make a cracking choice for the missus if it were available as a five-door…
Cars UK says
We’re assuming, because it’s basically a Zetec S, that you can only have it as a 3 door. But it’d still be a cracking car for ‘er indoors!
