The biggest of Ford’s UK people shifters, the Galaxy, has been refreshed for 2015 – including a 4WD option – and will cost from £26,445 rising to £36,145.
Ford revealed their 2015 Galaxy people shifter at the start of the month, with a nice exterior facelift, decent titivations to the interior and some nice new technology. Now we know it will cost from £26,445, a not insignificant £775 up on the outgoing model. It’s quite a price hike when inflation is at zero, but you are getting the updates – which aren’t insignificant – and you’re also getting the new 158bhp EcoBoost engine too.
More interesting than a bit of an increase in price is the arrival of a 4WD option for the Galaxy. It’s not a full-time system, but just like the new S-Max it comes in to play above 18mph and shifts power to the back wheels if it senses slip. It also means the new Galaxy can tow up to two tonnes.
Trim levels are familiar – Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X – with Zetec offering parking sensors, electric folding mirrors, climate and keyless, Titanium adding Sat Nav, DAB, Cruise and auto lights and wipers and Titanium X a panoramic glass roof, electric driver’s seat, heated seats, park assist and power tailgate.
Engine options, in addition to the aforementioned 1.5 litre turbo, include a quarter of 2.0 litre diesel engines with varying ouputs and a 2.0 litre petrol turbo with 237bhp.
The new Galaxy goes on sale at Ford’s UK dealers today.
