New Volvo V90 Estate spotted completely undisguised
The Swedish motoring press has managed to grab photos of the new Volvo V90 Estate ahead of a likely reveal at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The new Volvo S90 has only just been revealed – and won’t get its public debut until the Detroit Motor Show next week – but its estate sibling – the even more appealing new Volvo V90 – is close on its heels, as demonstrated by this completely undisguised photo of the V90 (above).Swedish web site Tekniken Varld has managed to grab photos of the new V90, and we can clearly see the influence of the Volvo Concept Estate in the rear end treatment, a treatment that looks both very Volvo and much more convincing than the new S90, where the back end looks a bit of an afterthought.
Overall, the V90 is a much more appealing shape than the V70 it effectively replaces, and although its sloping roofline may restrict the bulk it can carry, its additional length should compensate.
But we’re not entirely sure buyers will be queueing up for the V90 because it’s a load lugger, but rather because it’s an even more appealing car than the S90 saloon.
With a range of engines including everything up to the T8 plug-in hybrid – and no doubt Volvo’s 1.5 litre 3-cylinder engines too in time – an extra dose of practicality and the stunning interior from the S90, the V90 promises to be a very appealing prospect.
Expected to arrive at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the new V90 could be on sale by the end of the summer. It could also be followed by a V90- Cross Country, Volvo’s answer to cars like the Audi Allroad.
