Is this a tease for the new Skoda Kodiak SUV
A tease for what we assume will be the new Kodiak SUV has been posted on Skoda’s Facebook page, showing a garage door and a promise of ‘Something Big’.
We know the Skoda Kodiak SUV is on the way (although the Kodiak name isn’t officially confirmed) but we thought Skoda were planning a debut at the end of 2016, ahead of a 2017 model. But a new teaser photo (above) posted on Skoda’s Facebook page makes us think Skoda has brought its SUV plans forward, and are planning a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a little over a month.
All we get from Skoda is a photo of a garage door and the promise of ‘Something Big’ lurking behind the closed door, and we can’t think of anything else other than the Kodiak SUV it could be.
Assuming it is the Kodiak (which we once thought would be the Skoda Snowman, but it appears Skoda has dropped that idea), then we can look forward to a Skoda SUV built on VW’s MQB Platform, a choice of front and four-wheel drive, seven seats and a range of economical engines.
We had thought we should view the Kodiak as Skoda’s take on the VW Tiguan, but it starting to look like it might be a chunk bigger, perhaps hoping to take some of the market enjoyed by SUVs like the Hyundai Santa Fe.
We’re sure more will be revealed soon.
