The Jaguar F-Type SVR – Jaguar’s first production Special Vehicle Operations – is now official, with a full reveal on 17 February 2016.
Last week we had a full leak on the new Jaguar F-Type SVR – Jaguar’s new range-topping F-Type, created by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations – including a gallery of photos of the F-Type SVR and a raft of details. We’d expected that leak to spur Jaguar on to a full reveal, but instead of that they’ve chosen to release very limited details, a couple of photos we didn’t already have, confirmation of its 200mph top speed, confirmation it’s a coupe and a convertible and the date of the full reveal – 17 February 2016.
What Jaguar hasn’t confirmed is what we learnt last week, including that the SVR F-Type will get 567bhp from its 5.0 litre supercharged engine, will be able to get to 62mph in 3.7 seconds, will get Jaguar’s AWD setup to help it get its power down and will come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
John Edwards, JLR Special Operations, said:
The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design.
The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.
The rest of the official details – and the answer to the question of how much does the new Jaguar F-Type SVR cost – will have to wait until 17 February, with a public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March.
