New Jaguar F-Type SVR arrives a bit early

The new Jaguar F-Type SVR is heading for a debut at Geneva as the most potent F-Type so far. But it’s arrived a bit earlier than Jaguar planned.
It’s not exactly a secret that a Jaguar F-Type SVR is on the way. After all, we’ve see video of the F-Type SVR running round the Nurburgring as Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations hones it to be the most potent of F-Types.The plan is to debut the F-Type SVR at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring, but as with all the best laid plans of car makers these days, the internet has scuppered that. So say hello to the new Jaguar F-Type SVR.
It seems a marketing intern decided the best place for the F-Type SVR’s brochure he had was on-line (just the sort of intern you need), and Autoblog in the Netherlands picked it up.
So, unlike most photo leaks of new cars, we get a bit more detail than we could have expected on the SVR, including its specification, its power and its options.
F-Type SVR Power and Performance
Slightly surprisingly, it seems the SVR Jaguar doesn’t get the 600bhp (plus) we’d expected, but makes do with the same 567bhp as the Project 7 F-Type, can get to 62mph in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 200mph (in the coupe).
That’s a full 0.4 seconds quicker to 62mph than the F-Type R – despite only an extra 25bhp – and another 14mph on the top speed, so there’s something more going on than just extra power. Perhaps different gearing?
The SVR also get a titanium exhaust and AWD.

Jaguar F-Type SVR Interior
Jaguar’s SVR F-Type can be had as a coupe or convertible, with cosmetic tweaks including new front air inlets, new splitter and new diffuser at the back, as well as a big spoiler bolted on the back to increase downforce and reduce lift.
The wheels and tyres are bigger and lighter, there’s adaptive sports suspension and optional ceramic brakes, SVR logos, a new steering wheel and a quilted leather interior.
Unfortunately, there are no prices revealed for the F-Type SVR, but it seems likely they’re going to be around £100k when it arrives in Jaguar’s UK dealers later in the year.
In the meantime, and ahead of the Jaguar F-Type SVR’s debut in Geneva, it seems highly likely we’ll get some properly official details.
