Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe caught again on video
The Jaguar F-Type Coupe SVR – Jaguar’s 600bhp answer to the Porsche 911 Turbo – has been caught on video once more as a 2016 debut gets closer.
Jaguar’s Special Vehicles Operations (SVO) is busy developing the ultimate F-Type – the Jaguar F-Type SVR – in both coupe and convertible guises ahead of a launch that seems likely at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show (if not before). We already spied the F-Type SVR back in July as Jaguar pound it round the Nurburgring to make sure it’s properly fettled, but now we get new video that gives us a better look at Jaguar’s forthcoming F-Type range-topper.
Jaguar are pitching the F-Type SVR against the Porsche 911 Turbo, so it’s getting 4WD to help put the power down – power that looks set to get close to 600bhp as Jaguar look to have daylight between the new SVR and the current F-Type R – as well as ceramic brakes to reign in the momentum.
The looks are more extreme too than the R, with bigger air intakes at the front to feed air to the supercharged engine and a diffuser that comes from the Project 7 F-Type, plus a fixed wing at the back.
When the F-Type SVR arrives in 2016 – in both coupe and convertible guise – it’s likely to cost getting on for £150,000.
