The new Renault Koleos SUV has been fully revealed at the Beijing Motor Show, and the UK will be getting the new big Renault SUV.
Renault revealed the first picture of the new Koleos SUV last week after the internet had done its stuff and leaked it first, but now, at the Beijing Motor Show, it’s taken the wraps off properly. The Renault Koleos – a big brother to the Captur and Kadjar in Renault’s SUV line-up – borrows its underpinnings from the Nissan X-Trail and so will come with a degree of proper off-road ability (although it’s no Land Rover).
The Koleos will be available with both FWD and 4WD setups, and Renault are making sure we know it’ll do off-road properly by quoting approach and departure angles (they’re 19 and 26 degrees respectively), and a ground clearance of 213mm will help that.
Despite the reveal, Renault are still being coy about engine options, but they do say there will be a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines with outputs from 128bhp to 173bhp, and a six-speed manual or the unappealing X-Tronic CVT gearbox.
The Koleos will be a big SUV for its sector at 4670mm long, which will leave lots of legroom for passengers in a cabin that looks rather appealing, featuring Renault’s R-Link 2 Infotainment (an 8.7″ tablet shape in the posh versions, a more modest 7″ landscape for the pauper’s trim) and digital dash, good connectivity, premium soft-touch materials, panoramic roof, and ambient lighting (depending again on spec).
Although the new Koleos will be going on sale in Q3 in Australia and other countries, it’ll be the start of 2017 before you can buy one from Renault’s UK dealers.
By which time they should have sorted out exactly what the engine options are for the UK, the full spec and prices.
