MG GS SUV UK Price – costs from £14,995
The MG GS SUV has gone on sale in the UK, with prices from £14,995 to £20,995, a single 1.5 litre petrol engine and Explore, Excite and Exclusive trim.
It was just last month that the MG GS SUV was revealed in its Euro-friendly guise, all ready to take on cars like the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson in the busy compact SUV/Crossover market place. But cars like the Tucson and Qashqai are well-established and mainstream, so MG will need to do what Hyundai used to and offer a car that looks to be the match of the mainstream, but at a budget price. And that’s exactly what they’re doing.
MG are also keeping their costs down by offering just one engine option for the GS – a 1.5 litre turbo petrol with 168bhp – mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or, on the range-topping Exclusive trim, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The trim options for the GS start with the GS Explore, which despite staring from £14,995 still comes with goodies like cruise, auto lights and Air Con, with the GS Excite at £17,495 adding Bluetooth, DAB and parking sensors.
The range-topping GS Exclusive gets electric leather sports seats and Sat Nav and can be had with either a six speed manual for £19,495 or a seven-speed DCT for £20,995.
Matthew Cheyne, MG’s Head of Sales, said:
This car offers so much for comparatively little, making it the SUV to choose. The specification on these cars is phenomenal and when you add in the five year warranty it’s a no-brainer. There are some really great features as well, such as the adjustable rear seats that not only recline but fold completely flat making it adaptable for whatever the customer’s lifestyle.
Customers choosing the MG GS will save money over more expensive SUVs. They will have all the specification they could want and still have money left to enjoy holidays or family days out.
The MG GS SUV goes on sale at MG’s UK dealers on Thursday (16 June 2016).
