The Infiniti QX50 SUV Concept – heading for a Detroit debut
The first image of the Infiniti QX50 SUV Concept – a new mid-size SUV from Infiniti – is revealed ahead of its debut at the Detroit Motor Show.
Want to know what Infiniti’s future SUVs will look like? Then look no further – the Infiniti SUV future has arrived with the first image of the Infiniti QX50 SUV Concept ahead of a debut at next month’s Detroit Motor Show. That’s a statement you may have heard before, because that’s what we said about the Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration Concept earlier this year.
But the QX50 does herald a new QX50 some time soon, and is a development of the QX Inspiration to show a coupe-like SUV which will almost certainly arrive in production at some point in the next year or so.
The QX50 also previews Infiniti’s ProPolot Autonomous Driving Technology which, say Infiniti, will allow the driver to hand over control in stop-start traffic or on the motorway; not complete autonomous driving, but as good as it gets so far.
Also on offer is Infiniti’s new VC-Turbo engine, a new 2.0 litre petrol turbo with 268bhp using variable compression to offer the performance of a V6 and economy 27% better than you’d expect. Or so we’re told.
Roland Krueger, Infiniti President, said:
With the unveiling of the QX Sport Inspiration at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, we showed the future of INFINITI QX models. The new QX50 Concept evolves this concept further and shows how INFINITI could develop its future presence in the fastest-growing vehicle segment globally.
