NEW Volvo XC60 SUV shows its nose as Volvo prepare a Geneva Motor Show debut

The all-new 2017 (or 2018) Volvo XC60 SUV is teased by Volvo ahead of a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in a a few days time.

It’s just a few weeks since we reported that both the all new Volvo XC40 and XC60 will debut on 2017, and now we know the all new Volvo XC60 is heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 10 days time.

We’re assuming Volvo are revealing the all new XC60 in production guise, rather than as a concept, but as Volvo boss Hakan Samuelsson says there will be two new SUVs from Volvo on sale this year it does seem unlikely we’ll be getting ‘Concept’ XC60.

Volvo has a lot to live up to0 with a new XC60, a car in its current iteration which is still the best-selling premium SUV in its sector in Europe, but all the signs for the new XC60 are very encouraging.

Built on the same platform as the stunning XC90, it will be strongly influenced by its big brother’s design, but in a slightly scaled down, five-seat way, complete with Thor headlights and tall tail lights.

Under the bonnet expect there to be, at least initially, a choice of 2.0 litre D4 and D5 diesels, but with Volvo’s new three-cylinder 1.5 litre engines following with up to 180bhp, and at least one Twin Engine plug-in hybrid too.

Expect the new XC60 to come laden with plenty of safety stuff as standard, lots of appealing options and Volvo’s latest self-piloting software too.

Now we know the all new Volvo XC60 is heading for a Geneva reveal, the Chinese media assertion that the all new XC40 will debut in Shanghai next month seems wide of the mark. Frankfurt in the autumn now seems favourite.

The all new Volvo XC60 will debut on 7 March 2017 in Geneva.
