New Volvo XC60 OFFICIALLY revealed as Volvo renew their best-selling car (+ video)

The new Volvo XC60 – the 2017 XC60 or 2018 XC60 depending on your location – is finally revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The new Volvo XC60 has finally been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show following a series of new XC60 teases by Volvo, and yesterday’s leak of the first official photo of the new XC60.

But this morning Volvo has officially taken the wraps off its all-new XC60, and it looks just as we expected. And not, at the same time.

At first look the new XC60 looks like an XC90 after a slightly hot wash. In fact, the new XC60 has cleverly taken all the great design cues of the XC90 and translated them in a to a slightly more rounded, more human and more sporty SUV. It’s a neat trick.

Sitting on the same SPA Platform as the XC90, the new XC60 is less imposing than its big brother, although the Thor running lights and statement grill are still in evidence the XC60 sits lower and looks sportier.

At the back the Volvo tall tail lights are present and correct, but on the XC60 the continue in to the tailgate, and the inside is a more compact, five-seat take on the XC90’s, complete with digital dash and Sensus tablet screen. And that’s a very good thing.

The XC60 has grown in this new generation, getting 62mm longer and 12mm wider – but sitting 14mm lower – and Volvo has managed to get an extra 91mm (that’s 3.5″ in old money) in to the wheelbase, which should make rear seat passengers more comfortable.

The launch models of the new XC60 will all have Volvo’s four-cylinder Drive-E engines, 4WD and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

UK offerings will be the 187bhp D4 and 235bhp D5 diesels, a petrol T5 with 251bhp and the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid from the XC90 with 401bhp and a 0-62mph of 5.3 seconds.

The XC60 is an SUV not designed to look down on others but to drive. The exterior has an athletic sculpture with a subtle, timeless quality.

The interior is a masterful composition of well-resolved architecture, beautiful materials and the very latest technology – all perfectly blended together. The XC60 provides a true Scandinavian experience, which will make our customers feel special.

The all-new Volvo XC60 goes in to production in April, so it’ll probably be on sale soon after at Volvo’s UK dealers and in customers’ hands in the summer.
