The Jaguar F-Pace secures the 2017 World Car of the Year Award as Jaguar’s first SUV also lands World Car Design of the Year at the New York Motor Show.
It’s a year since the Jaguar F-Pace arrived in t he hands of customers as Jaguar’s first ever SUV, and that year has culminated with the F-Pace being voted the 2017 World Car of the Year.Over the past year we’ve run umpteen stories about the new Jaguar F-Pace driving Jaguar’s sales to finally compete with Land Rover’s success under Tata, and that shows n o sign of abating.
But it wasn’t just the World Car of the Year award for the F-Pace, it also won World Car Design of the Year too.
That Added gong, only the second time a car has won the double in the history of the awards, has prompted Jaguar to proclaim the F-Pace “The best and most beautiful car in the world”. Hmmm.
In the cold light of day Jaguar would probably be the first to admit the F-Pace is neither, but it is an exceptionally able, well-conceived and handsome SUV. More than enough to make it the World Car of the Year.
Dr Ralf Speth, JLR CEO, said:
The F-PACE was designed and engineered as a performance SUV with exceptional dynamics, everyday usability and bold design. Winning this award endorses the talent and great work of our teams that have delivered the world’s most practical sports car and Jaguar’s fastest-selling vehicle.
A thoroughly deserved win by Jaguar, beating off competition from the Audi Q5 and Volkswagen Tiguan in the final top three (making the Jag’s win a bit of a no-brainer), and doing no harm at all to future sales of the F-Pace in the process.
