1954 Jaguar XK120 SE by Pininfarina RESTORATION to be revealed at Pebble Beach
A 1954 Jaguar XK120 by Pininfarina – a one-off model – has been restored by CMC to its former glory and will be revealed at Pebble Beach later this month.
There are plenty of rare Jaguars around, from the Lightweight E-Types to the XKSS. But they seem as common as much compared to this – a 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE by Pininfarina. It’s the only Pininfarina XK120 ever built, and was commissioned in 1954 by US Luxury Car Importer Max Hoffman, who was so chuffed with it he let it be displayed at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show.
The Jaguar went off to Germany in 1978, with the new owner intending restoring it to its former glory, but as with many well intentioned plans with classic cars it never happened.
Step forward Classic Motor Cars (CMC), who snapped up the neglected Pininfarina Jaguar and have been working tirelessly to restore it ever since.
Now, the restoration is complete, and CMC are promoting its reveal – at the Pebble Beach Concours on Sunday 20 August 2017 – with a photo (above) of the staff who rebuilt the Jaguar standing alongside the covered Jag.
Peter Neumark, CMC’s Chairman, said:
We always said that we would unveil the car for the first time at Pebble Beach and that is exactly what we are going to do.
I will have the privilege of taking the cover off the car at the world famous Concours d’Elegance in California and I think that car collectors and aficionados from around the world are going to be astounded by what they see.
We assume the Pininfarina bodied Jaguar XK120 will be up for sale at some point. But what’s it worth?
