New Renault Clio is PERFECT for Driving Instructors

The new Renault Clio is the perfect car for teaching new drivers, say Renault, in a pitch for the hearts and minds of driving instructors and new drivers.
There are something like 50,000 registered driving instructors in the UK, so Renault’s pitch to convince them the new Renault Clio is the perfect driving instructors car isn’t reaching a huge market. But when you factor in the number of learner drivers who take their driving test each year – around 750,000 in the UK – you can see why Renault would love to see the new Clio the default choice for instructors; after all, successfully learning to drive in a Clio should make the new buyers well disposed to Renault’s little hatch.
So Renault are offering the Clio to driving instructors from just £45 a week (with £1200 down), which works out at around a Pound an hour for working time – just a fraction of the average £25 cost of a driving lesson.
Renault will throw in dual controls and metallic paint, and are at pains to point out that the Clio also comes with R&GO so instructors, and their pupils, can hook up their phone’s Sat Nav.
That may sound pointless, but from later this year new drivers will have to show they can use a Sat Nav and follow instructions from it on their test.
Which sounds a bit daft to those of us who grew up with maps and learning where we were going, as does the fact that new drivers won’t have to prove they can reverse round a corner any more, or do a three point turn. That’s progress.
The Driving Instructor deal for the new Clio runs until the end of September.
