Porsche Passport gives a choice of up to 22 Porsches for a fixed monthly fee
Porsche Passport rolls out in the USA, offering a subscription service which gives on-demand access to a range of 22 different Porsche cars for a fixed fee.
Car makers are having to start thinking what the future holds for car ownership – and the effect on car sales – as autonomous cars loom and younger buyers start to wonder if the cost of owning, maintaining and insuring a car is worth the hassle.Higher-end car makers also need to come up with imaginative ways to persuade people in to their cars as mainstream cars become more like simple transport devices, and Porsche thinks it’s come up with a solution – Porsche Passport.
Porsche Passport is a straightforward subscription scheme offering on-demand access to a range of Porsche models for a fixed fee.
The starting point is a fee of £1500 a month, which will give access to eight Porsche models, including the 718 Boxster, Cayman S and Macan S, with all costs included – even insurance.
There’s another step up the ladder of choice, with a monthly fee of £2,250 giving access to a bigger range of 22 models including the 911 Carrera S, Panamera 4S and Cayenne S E-Hybrid.
Porsche Passport is now being rolled out in Atlanta – Porsche’s US base – but if it works it will spread across the States and, no doubt, to Europe too.
