MG boosts MG3 Supermini warranty to 5 YEARS
The cheap as chips MG 3 Supermini – costing from just £8,695 – gets a new five year 60,000 mile warranty in the UK, up from the previous three year warranty.
There’s a definitely a market for simple, unsophisticated budget cars, and Dacia has tapped in to that magnificently in recent years. But there is an alternative to a Dacia, with MG following a similar route for its products, with the Sandero competing MG3 Supermini starting at just £8,695.
But despite a price tag that would only buy you a bit of extra carbon fibre on an Audi R8, the MG 3 does start to fall badly out of bed on price once its warranty is done and dusted. But MG has a fix for that.
From now on, the MG3 will come with a new five year warranty (or 60,000 miles) in the UK, boosting the value new buyers sought by helping underpin residual values.
So far, since the MG3 arrived in 2013, MG has managed to flog around 10,000, which although hardly significant numbers does show there is an appetite for real budget motoring.
To add to the appeal of the extra warranty, MG is also offering cut price customisation packs for the New Year, with accessory packs with graphics, coloured mirrors and interior pack on offer for just £295.
The MG3 may be basic and old-fashioned, although it’s decent looking with an okay spec, but as a cheap commuting car or shopping trolley it does hold appeal.
And five years without having to worry if it breaks will only add to that appeal.
