2018 Kia Ceed previewed in design sketch
The 2018 Kia Ceed is previewed with a design sketch ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, as Kia announce the Cee’d is losing its apostrophe.
Top Gear fans never really had a problem with the apostrophe in the Kia Cee’d name, as Clarkson always referred to it as the ‘Cee apostrophe D’. But the apostrophe is no more.Kia say from now on – with the arrival of the 2018 Kia Ceed, previewed in a design sketch above – the apostrophe is gone and the Cee’d becomes the Ceed. Apparently, it now stands for Community of Europe, with European Design. Blimey.
Kia’s rival for cars like the VW Golf and Ford Focus is getting a makeover for 2018 and will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show as a five-door Hatch next month alongside a new variant for the Ceed which Kia don’t want to divulge. Coupe, Crossover or Shooting Brake? Or maybe a ‘Fastback’?
Cosmetically, the updates for the Ceed will probably be inspired by the looks of the new Rio and proportions and lines not far removed from its Hyundai i30 cousin.
Inside will boast more technology and a push upmarket in quality, as well as more safety systems and new engines.
Kia do say the design is inspired by the Stinger (looking for a halo glow), and that the new Ceed will be more dynamic, more refined and better to drive than the current car.
