2018 Ford Edge SUV gets new 235bhp Diesel and ST-Line in the UK
The 2018 facelift for the Ford Edge SUV offers a new twin-turbo 235bhp diesel engine, new sporty ST-Line option, but no petrol engine availability in the UK.
The 2018 facelift for the Ford Edge SUV was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show last month, and now Ford has delivered details of what the UK will get in the titivated Edge, although it won’t go on sale until the end of 2018.Unlike the Edge on the other side of the Pond, there will be no range-topping Edge ST with 335bhp V6 petrol engine, but there is a new 235bhp diesel engine option and it can be had with the new ST-Line trim for the Edge.
In fact, in what seems a rather odd move, Ford don’t seem willing to offer any petrol versions of the Edge in the UK and Europe, despite the growing dislike of diesel engines.
Instead, as well as the new 2.0 litre 235bhp twin-turbo diesel, you will be able to have only a 148bhp diesel with FWD or a 187bhp diesel with 4WD.
The ST-Line Trim – which we expect to be available across the diesel-engined line-up – gets tweaked bumpers, 20″ alloys, butch sills, bits of gloss black, part leather seats, SYNC 3, digital instruments and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety stuff for the new Edge includes collision braking, adaptive cruise, lane assist, steering assist, Blind Spot, Adaptive lights, Lane Keep Alert and more.
The 2019 Ford Edge (for it will be almost 2019 before it arrives in Ford’s UK showrooms) will be available in Titanium, Vignale and Trend trim levels, as well as the new ST-Line.
