BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept (almost) REVEALED
The new BMW M8 Gran Coupe looks to be heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show – at least in Concept guise – as BMW release a single tease image.
It’s not exactly a secret that BMW is turning the 6 Series in to the 8 Series, with Coupe, Cabriolet and Gran Coupe versions on the cards, more power, more luxury – and a bigger price point. The countdown for a new 8 Series BMW range started with the reveal of the BMW Concept 8 Series at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy last year, followed just a few days later by news on a new BMW M8 too.
BMW confirmed at that reveal that the M8 was being developed alongside the new 8 Series, that there will also be an M8 GTE to take BMW Motorsport to Le Mans, and that the BMW 8 Series would arrive in 2018.
Now, just days away from the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, BMW has taken to social media to reveal a single, not hugely revealing, image of a car they’re taking to Geneva.
BMW aren’t saying anything about the car – which, at least in profile, looks rather like an Aston Martin Rapide to us – but we’re assuming it’s a concept take on the new BMW M8 Gran Coupe.
If it is, it’s the replacement for the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, and is expected to get BMW’s xDrive 4WD and 4.4 litre V8 Twin Turbo with north of 600bhp, and join the M8 Coupe and M8 Convertible as BMW’s 8-Series M range.
If we’re right, we should see the production version of the M8 Gran Coupe at the Paris Motor Show in October. Unless BMW are skipping the whole ‘Concept’ bit and the Geneva reveal will be the production car.
We;ll find out next week.
