Volvo XC40 – now with added attitude
The new Volvo XC40 Compact SUV can now be had with added attitude, as Volvo adds the option of a new exterior styling pack to make the new XC40 just a bit more standout.
Volvo’s new XC40 has really upset the ‘Premium’ end of the rush in to compact SUVs, with a typically Volvo mix of style, Swedish cool, comfort and appeal which looks set to make Volvo’s first compact SUV a proper success. With prices starting at around £27k for the entry-level XC40 Momentum, and rising to £37.5k for the range-topping XC40 Inscription Pro T5 AWD, there’s and option to fit most buyers’ tastes and budgets, and enough customisation to make your XC40 quite individual.
But what is missing is a subtle exterior styling option to add a bit more butch – but subtle, Swedish butch – something we’ve long thought is a missed opportunity for Volvo; for us, budget permitting, it’s the Inscription Pro Volvo models which are the more appealing, but we’d like to add a bit more exterior style. Now, with the new XC40 Exterior Styling Pack, you can.
The XC40 Styling kit adds a new set of 21″ alloys – already available as an option on R-Design and Inscription Pro – as well as brushed stainless steel front and rear skid plates, and the same for the lower door moulding, as well as a new roof spoiler at the back with integrated brake light.
It’s all quite subtle and understated, as you’d expect from Volvo, but it does give the XC40 a nice edge, particularly on the entry-level Momentum cars and the Inscription models.
It looks like you’ll be able to add the new XC40 Exterior Styling Pack to your UK order from the summer, and at £2,285 it’s not a lot more than the 21″ alloys alone would cost.
Now, Volvo, could you please do something similar for the 60 and 90 Series models (including a dark chrome option for the 90 Series Inscription models)?
