VW Tarok is a funky lifestyle PICK-UP
The Volkswagen Tarok Concept – revealed in Brazil – is a preview of a production pick-up with flexible load bed and lifestyle credentials.
The Volkswagen Tarok (not to be confused with the VW T-Roc) is a five metre long lifestyle pick-up, revealed at the Sao Paolo Motor Show in Brazil as a Concept, but heading in to production virtually unchanged.Currently, Volkswagen’s only real pick-up offering is the Amarok, but the Tarok is designed to offer a pick-up with more lifestyle credentials; a perfect blend of size, convenience and ability, making it almost a family car, just one with load-lugging chops too.
Shown with a 1.4 litre petrol engine and six-speed automatic gearbox with 4Motion 4WD, the production version of the Tarok is more likely to come with a 148bhp 2.0 litre diesel, and in Brazil versions which can run of E100 and E22.
The double-cab of the Tarok is suitably modern VW car, with digital screens and car-like spec, the back seats can be folded down to extend the pick-up’s flat bed lugging capacity, the front end is funky, there’s a Targa-like roof bar and LED strip across the rear.
The VW Tarok isn’t destined for the UK or Europe (at the moment), but we’d have thought there would be healthy market for a cheaper, lifestyle pick-up sitting below the Amarok – complete with the tax breaks for business owners.
Sounds a bit of a no-brainer for the UK.
