Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label Pick-up
The Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label is a new luxury take on VW’s Amarok Pick-up, arriving in the UK priced from £33,650 (+VAT) and taking aim at the new Mercedes X-Class.
The Pick-up market in the UK headed more upmarket with the arrival of the new Mercedes X-Class (even if it is a Nissan Navara under the posh, three-pointed gloss) as buyers continue to lap up Pick-ups as a low-cost BIK bargain. But Volkswagen don’t want to let Mercedes have the ‘Premium Pick-up’ market to itself, so it’s launched the VW Amarok Dark Label as a limited edition, range-topping luxury Amarok.
The Amarok Dark Label is limited to just 200 units in the UK (although there’s little doubt that if they sell in quick sticks there will be a follow-up model), based on the Amarok Highline and costing from £40,380.
The Dark Label Amarok comes with 18″ Rawson alloys, black mirrors, door handles and rear bumper, Carbon Steel grey metallic paint, matt black side bars and rear styling bar, underbody styling and some new decals.
Inside it’s Alcantara trim, black headlining, chrome vent surrounds, Discover Media with 6.33″ touchscreen, auto lights and wipers and heated folding door mirrors.
Power comes from VW’s 3.0 litre V6 diesel with 201bhp and 369lb/ft of torque, sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label is now on sale at VW’s UK CV dealers, costing from £40,380 (including VAT), with order books closing in April and first customer vehicles due in May.
