Honda CR-V Hybrid UK Price and Spec announced
The Honda CR-V Hybrid, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show, goes on sale in the UK with prices starting from £29,105.
The new Honda CR-V finally arrived in the UK in August, but, surprisingly, it didn’t come with the much anticipated Hybrid engine option, with just a single petrol engine on offer and no diesel. With Toyota making hay with their ‘Self-Charging’ hybrids as the world and its dog turns its back on diesel power, we’d expected to make delivering a hybrid powertrain for the CR-V the top priority for Honda, and they finally got round to it with the UK take on the CR-V Hyrbrid getting its official debut at the Paris Motor Show.
Now the Honda CR-V Hybrid is going on sale in the UK, and it will start from £29,105 – just over £3k more than the entry-level petrol CR-V.
Under the skin is a new Intelligent Multi Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid powertrain with a 2.0 litre petrol engine and electric motor conspiring to deliver 181bhp, with FWD models the starting point and 4WD models costing from £32,065, in four spec levels – S, SE, SR and EX – and three driving modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive – which do what they say on the tin.
Those trim levels mimic those already available on the petrol-engined CR-V, although the 2WD is only available in S, SE and SR, and the 4WD in SE, SR and EX.
Phil Webb, Honda’s UK Head of Car, said:
The CR-V hybrid is the first step in achieving our objective of electrified powertrains accounting for two-thirds of our European sales by 2025.
In a marketplace that is going to become increasingly competitive as time goes on, the CR-V is well placed to achieve strong sales results and we have high expectations for this car.
The new Honda CR-V Hybrid is expected to be in Honda’s UK showrooms in February 2019.
