New compact Audi e-tron SUV EV heading for Geneva
Audi are heading to the Geneva Motor Show with a new electric e-tron concept, expected to be an electric compact SUV heading for production in 2021.
The new Audi e-tron has just gone on sale in the UK as Audi starts to roll out its electric future, and the e-tron GT is expected to arrive as Audi’s take on the Porsche Taycan later this year. But both those electric Audi’s are distinctly high-end, with prices for the e-tron starting the wrong side of £70k and the e-tron GT likely to be even more.
But it seems Audi’s next electric move will be more affordable, with a new Audi e-tron concept heading for the Geneva Motor Show next month, according to Automotive News, which will be built on VW’s MEB platform – the same platform as the VW ID Hatch – but will come as a compact SUV. Think something not unlike an electric Q3.
Although the electric compact SUV concept is likely to grab the headlines at Geneva, Audi will also have four plug-in hybrid models to show at Geneva including a plug-in Audi Q5, but don’t be surprised if Audi’s Q7 and Q8 arrive as plug-ins too.
It’s all part of Audi’s plans to go where VW are going with EVs, planning for a third of their sales to be EV or plug-in hybrids by 2025.
