New Peugeot 208 Reservations open early
The new Peugeot won’t arrive in the UK until 2020, but due to high demand Peugeot has opened reservations, including for the new electric e208.
There’s a lot to be said for taking advantage of no big lump of iron under the bonnet of an electric car to deliver different designs (like the Jaguar I-Pace), but there’s also a lot to be said for making electric cars look just like ICE cars, certainly if car makers are going to persuade buyers that EVs are the way to go.The latter is the route Peugeot has taken with the new 208 – revealed ahead of the Geneva Motor Show – offering the usual diesel and petrol engined suspects wrapped up in a new improved 208, but offering an e280 electric 208 alongside, with the pitch being that it’s just a new Peugeot 208 with an alternate ‘engine.
We like the 208 quite a lot, and this new 208 looks to have increased its appeal, so it’s no surprise that Peugeot has decided to open reservations for the new model early in the UK due to demand. And that includes the electric 208.
If you’re happy to plonk down a £500 (refundable) deposit, Peugeot will let you secure a 208 GT Line Puretech 100 petrol, BlueHDi 100 diesel or the electric e208. You’ll also get first dibs on test drives as soon as Peugeot get the new 208 in to the UK. Actual orders can be placed in the summer but don’t expect to get your new 208 until in to 2020.
David Peel, Peugeot’s UK MD, said:
We’re delighted that our all-new PEUGEOT 208 reservation site has now opened. This is a hugely exciting model for us. Not only does the all-new PEUGEOT 208 deliver on our promise of sharp styling, uncompromising quality and an instinctive driving experience, but the 208 features our first new generation fully electric vehicle, the all-new PEUGEOT e-208
