Volkswagen ID. Tiguan on the way as a FACELIFT of the VW ID.4

The Volkswagen ID.4 gets a facelift and becomes the electric Volkswagen ID. Tiguan, with ID.3 Neo styling and updates.

The Volkswagen Tiguan has been with us for almost two decades and, for the last decade, has been VW’s biggest seller, with the Tiguan (and its sister model, the Tayron) finding over a million buyers in the last year alone.

Now, the Tiguan goes electric for the first time as VW wakes up and realises familiar names for EVs will keep buyers happier than numbers, and renames a facelifted ID. 4 as the Volkswagen ID. Tiguan, joining the ID. Polo (and ID. Cross) as electric VWs with proper names.

All we have so far from VW is the announcement that the ID. Tiguan will debut next month (October 2026) and a couple of photos of a camouflaged ID. Tiguan (above and below). But it’s not too hard to guess where the dots join up.

As we’ve already seen with the electric Polo, ID.3 Neo and ID. Cross, VW has done what it can to remove the blobby, bland looks of its ID models and tried to make them as similar as possible to the ICE-based variants, and that’s what the ID. Tiguan offers.

Similarly, expect the interior to boast higher quality materials, vastly improved ergonomics and actual buttons for stuff you use regularly.

It seems likely the ID. Tiguan will inherit the new 58kWh LFP from the ID. 3 Neo to go with the ID.4’s current 77kWh offering range of around 280 miles and 375 miles, respectively.

All will be revealed when the new VW ID. Tiguan debuts in October.
