New compact Kia SUV teased in a sketch
Kia tease a new compact SUV, designed for a younger demographic, to be revealed as a new global model. But not for the UK and Europe.
We already know that Kia will be adding to its SUV / Crossover offerings with a Ceed Crossover this year, and now we know they’re planning a new Compact SUV too which, say Kia, will be a global model. But it seems despite that we won’t be seeing it in the UK and Europe.Kia say the new compact SUV has been created for the millennial generation and boasts a modern and sophisticated design with the space and practicality of a proper SUV, but all wrapped up in a more compact package.
The design includes a long bonnet (which seems a bit counter intuitive for the brief) with LED headlights extending over the grille with a three-dimensional light graphic with diamond pattern at the trailing edges, echoed in the rear LED lights.
Kia’s Head of Styling, Byung Chul Juh, said:
We have created a car which stands out everywhere, from the city to the countryside. Its robust yet sporty design will be matched by a wide range of features and technologies that are universally suited to younger buyers in markets around the world. Our new small SUV is a proposition that no other car in its class will match.
Kia say the new SUV will roll out in Korea in the second half of 2019 before going on sale in the rest of the world as a global model. Although that’s a global model which misses out 25 per cent of the market – there are no plans to sell it in the UK or Europe.
