Electric Honda E – what’s it like to Drive?
The new Honda E – Honda’s production take on the Urban EV – is on its way, and we have video from Robert Llewellyn with the first Honda E ‘drive’.
The Honda E looks set to give Honda a big hand up the ladder of EV adoption, with its cute retro looks, compact dimensions and good cabin. But what’s it actually like?Honda has let Fully Charged’s Robert Llewellyn loose in the Honda E, in a limited way, in Hamburg, and he seems very impressed with what’s on offer.
Of course, Llewellyn is an EV evangelist, properly committed to electric cars long before they became a practical alternative to an ICE car for many, so you’d expect him to be enthused about the Honda E. And he is, but it’s hard not to be infected by his enthusiasm for Honda’s first proper electric car.
Llewellyn is bowled over by the airiness of the cabin, the E’s tight turning circle thanks to its rear-wheel drive, the cute looks, the compact dimensions, the one-pedal driving and, most of all, the E’s cameras in place of door mirrors.
He’s not getting to drive the Honda E far, but he’s thrilled at how nippy it is and how easy it is to drive -particularly the one-pedal regenerative braking – and comes away declaring he could drive it all day, every day.
Expected to cost around £30k, the Honda E is already on sale – and racking up lots of orders – with first UK cars expected in early 2020, offering 148bhp and 221lb/ft of torque and a range of around 125 miles.
After watching the video, be warned – you might end up adding your name to Honda’s customer list.

Rubbish range and price too high versus an equivalent IC engined car. Not for me.
